January Roundup: Products I've Been Loving!

Hey guys,
I thought I’d write once a month about products I’ve been using, whether they are new finds or old favourites! Here’s January:
Revolution Skincare Superfruit Extract Antioxidant Rich Serum & Primer
I’m going to be honest, when it comes to skincare, I have no idea which products do what for my skin. I know that makeup should be removed before going to sleep because that’s when your skin repairs itself, and I’ve found that as I’ve aged, I’ve needed to exfoliate to stop the buildup of dead skin on my face because foundation has a horrible habit of sticking to it and it looks gross!
I received this for Christmas, and I’ve used a few bits from the Revolution Skincare range before - I love their Plumping & Hydration Serum with 2% Hyaluronic Acid!
I used this before foundation but after moisturising and it feels pleasantly sticky and smells quite nice. I feel this is definitely more of a primer than a skincare serum.
“Formulated with antioxidant-rich blueberry extract to help fight environmental damage and support the skin’s barrier, this two-in-one lightweight serum and primer leaves skin feeling soft, while subtle iridescent shimmer creates unbeatable glow.”
I wouldn’t say it makes my skin glow through my foundation, but it does provide a nice tacky base for foundation to stick to, and combined with the next product on my list, really helps everything stay in place.
The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer
This is the stickiest (in a good way) primer I’ve ever used! I’ve never used anything from The Ordinary before. I know a lot of people are trying to steer away from using silicone-based products, but I really feel that this product is worth twice every penny that it sells for, and it already costs less than £4. Foundation attaches itself to the primed skin and doesn’t budge until it’s removed. This was another gift in my Christmas stocking that I’ll be repurchasing when I run out.
Just keep your skin clean and that combats the silicone problem. Easy.
Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation
When I went to stay with my mum for Christmas I decided that I was only taking one foundation, and was then faced with the dilemma of which one do I take? I have combination skin that is oily in some places, normal in others and sometimes I get overwhelmingly dry, so I needed a well-balanced foundation. Since I’ve been exfoliating and occasionally dermaplaning, I’ve really enjoyed using the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation. It’s a demi-matte finish and I find it quite natural (in that it evens out my skin tone perfectly but also doesn’t quite cover my freckles) so it’s perfect for days where you don’t want to look really dry or overly moist!
I love the variety in finishes the Revolution lip range comes in (please re-formulate the lip liner into something that doesn’t break after 3 uses? Ta!), and the shade Chauffeur is my perfect nude because it’s a touch deeper than my natural lip colour. I’ve been particularly loving the lightweight formula of the Matte Lip (liquid lipstick), but the Sheer Lip (gloss) is my favourite for days where I don’t want to wear much except BB cream, mascara and lip colour. It’s not sticky but it is pigmented, which is unusual for a gloss. The liquid lipstick is a very velvety finish as well and I’ve found that it doesn’t need touching up quite as much as other liquid lipsticks I’ve tried.
Catrice Cosmetics Eyeconista Lash Millionizer Mascara
Throughout my life, I’ve always used two types of mascara - one to separate and life, and another for volume and thickness. This one claims to add up to 180% volume, and the brush is curved and the bristles nicely spaced so that each lash gets nicely coated in mascara without clumping.
For a long time, I was using the Nyx Worth The Hype mascara, but I’d just ran out when this one arrived in a beauty box I’d ordered. I’m not sure about the 180% volume claim, but it does do a great job of separating everything out and adding even layers of product to the lashes. I prefer it to the Nyx and I’ll be repurchasing the waterproof version in the future. It’s very similar to the Ciate London Wonderwand mascara, which is also worth every penny, by the way. The Catrice just comes in at around a fifth to half of the price depending on where you get it and is a great alternative.
Other things I’ve been using that I’ve liked:
Urban Decay Naked Reloaded eyeshadow palette - a birthday gift from my mum
Lime Crime Venus eyeshadow palette - a Christmas/birthday gift of my brother’s girlfriend’s old palette that she doesn’t use anymore
That’s it for January! I’m going to try and rotate some products round so I’m using different things for February, whether they are new or old!
PS sorry for the lack of images in this post! I'll make up for it on my next one!
